
Martine Van de Walle is a true artist of the Waasland. Se is born in Lokeren, spent her youth in Waasmunster and lives in Sint Niklaas today. The indication of her painter talent was already clear in the early infancy. And later, at the university, she decorated her courses of her law studies with designs and sketches.
After her studies, Martine registers herself at the bar of Gent, but another passion, that for the environment, leads to a study of environmental sciences and an environmental lawyer career. But the attraction of the painting remains, and she takes the decision to make the step towards an full-time existence as a painter.
She gets detailed design training of, among others, Roland Massa and Guy van Assche at the academy of arts of Sint Niklaas. In addition, she takes various courses with famous painters, including Hans Laagland.
Firmin Janssens, the famous Antwerp painter, teaches her to be loyal to the traditional craftsmanship of the old masters. Rubens, Rembrandt and the Dutch school affect her later works.
